Far from home Many, yet alone Stuck in a trench and left to die Gun in my hand In mud and blood I stand Shells raining down from the sky Thousands long gone Many more before the dawn Over the top soon we will go Dread fills my heart Waiting for the charge to start Headlong into a certain death The whistle will blow Over we will go Cut down in thousands in the mud Bodies torn apart Horrendous from the start Now it's my turn to charge and die Stuck on barbed wire Blown apart by cannon fire Melted from inside by poison gas Into no man's land More bodies they demand Send us all to die in agony Screams of those left dying Through the night we hear them crying All alone they slowly die in mud Such a pointless war More costly than before What the hell are we all dying for? Terror grips us all constantly Thousands dead but why not me? So much suffering for one to see Friends torn apart Lucky to depart The hellish torture of the trench So many are dead Just numbers in the end Far from home Terrified and alone Stuck in a trench and left to die Gun in my hand My life the command Shells raining down from the sky The whistle will blow Over we will go Cut down in thousands in the mud Stuck on barbed wire Blown apart by cannon fire Melted from inside by poison gas

June 1916 From the east a beast has come Brusilov will charge to break the line Time to attack to turn the tide Russian imperial might breaks through Austro-Hungarians run from their doom Bringing relief to the west at Verdun Keeping the enemy on the run Heavy losses on both sides Why do we die? Empires at war Our broken bodies the score Thousands and thousands are dead Loss of life turns Russia red Outraged by the loss Tsar pays the ultimate cost Charging right into the enemy line Scarified upon death's shrine Pushing deep into enemy land We now have the upper hand Victory is ours, we cannot be stopped Our brothers falling, bodies dropped With speed we charge, taking the line Breakthrough for Russia, this is our time Deep in enemy land Not all attacks have gone to plan Reaching Carpathia, spread too thin Too many bodies lost to win This offensive gone on too long Never again attack this strong So many men lost in the push Unrest at home now takes the stage Now unleashed the reds Rise up workers, take command Overthrow the tyrant Tide of the people's will Rise of the reds Revolution has come The old way is done Overthrow the oppressor Lenin in command

Waiting and waiting Stuck in the trench Counting the hours Til we die So it begins Death from above explosions in the distance Fear grips our hearts Any moment now A black rain of carnage Rats run and hide Even they know Death's on its way Destroyed in an instant Torn limb from limb Replaced by craters and smoke Hiding in dugouts for hours on end Driven insane by fear When will I die? Any moment now Blasted apart by a shell The dead all around Hours of slaughter Screams of the suffering Men missing limbs Bodies stuck in the mud Chunks covered in blood Hour after hour Shelling through the night Nerves on edge Crippled by fright Total despair conquers my mind Waiting for my time to die Men all around driven insane Crying, sobbing, screaming in pain Prelude to assault Followed by a wave of troops Hours of punishment Followed by a fierce attack Battered and broken Take up the guns Across no man's land Here they come! Fight back the fear, here they come Stand on broken bodies pushed into the mud Kill or be killed, this is survival Screming we hear them fall, dying in agony Are we do different? Their shells, our bullets We all die the same Suffering for what? Our lives not a game

Slowly they crawl To the enemy line Over the trench to turn the tide Steel bunkers roll forth Brave men within Fighting all odds Inside the steel death trap Heat and the fumes Noise and tight space Bullets spatter the flanks Treads that crush Guns to destroy Armored beast Bringer of fear Breaking the wires Crossing the craters Armored beast Bunker on the move Dark and cramped Noxious gas Heat and fumes Crew abused Stuck in the mud Destroyed by a shell Surrounded by infantry World turned to hell Treads roll forth Across no man's land Infantry follow behind Steel bunkers crawl on Prone to break Lives at stake Cramped and scorched Steel tomb Shrapnel flies Cover your eyes No air here Chamber of fear Bodies crushed Guns rip apart Armored beast Treads roll on

July 1917 Fighting in Flanders Bogged down in the mud Soon filled with our blood Butcher of Britain sent us to die Three months in hell Half a million of us fell How many lost in the mud? What did we gain? Was it worth all the pain? Sucked, slowly down in the muck Drown, lost beneath an ocean of mud Fear, dread of death drawing near Charging straight into death German machine guns up ahead Slaughtered in no man's land Blown apart right where we stand Cut down in a field of mud Torn limbs, raining blood What is the price of this land? How many lives will the butcher demand? Lost, thousands of bodies in mud Killed, but no victory won Suffer, thousands wounded, disfigured What is the price of this land?

From no man's land comes a cloud Creeping across without a sound Bringing agony and death Suffering with every breath Gasping for air Torture beyond compare Scramble for a mask Drowning in a sea of green Chlorine, mustard, phosgene Gasping for air Choking, screaming in despair Blistering, burning, peeling skin Sticky mess where eyes had been Tearing at throats, clawing eyes Spasming bodies as they die Throat closed, lungs aflame Hellish scene of agony Chemical warfare in extremes People pawns not living things Generals safe and far away taking lives like child's play So many horrors in this war Suffering unseen before Meling skin, dissolving eyes Sickening, disgusting prize What's to gain from all this pain? Thousands of lives down the drain Far from home and terrified No one safe on either side From no man's land comes a cloud Bringing pain without a sound Followed by a wall of cries Choking, drowning as they die Trapped under a sea of green Chlorine, mustard, phosgene Hellish weapons of fear Death slowly drawing near Left in a trench to die Four awful years gone by Thousands of bodies in the mud Ground still stained with their blood Gasping for air Choking, screaming in despair Blistering, burning, peeling skin Sticky mess where eyes had been Tearing at throats, clawing eyes Spasming bodies as they die Throat closed, lungs aflame Hellish scene of agony Green fog fills this dugout space Bodies with a melted face Lungs on fire, throat in pain What has this been done to gain? Thrown in a trench to die Killed but we don't know why Tortured by poison gas How was this allowed to come to pass? Who chose to kill this way? Why weren't they made to pay? Gasping for air Choking, screaming in despair Blistering, burning, peeling skin Sticky mess where eyes had been Tearing at throats, clawing eyes Spasming bodies as they die Throat closed, lungs aflame Hellish scene of agony
